Silver Sunday

Nickie celebrating Silver Sunday 2021

Nickie is a passionate advocate of improving health for everyone.

Since arriving in Parliament, Nickie has stood up and spoken out against the 1824 Vagrancy Act, which is simply no longer fit for purpose. The Act fails to address the acute 21st-century problems that public sector agencies and charities face when working to support rough sleepers. Find out more and show join Nickie's campaign to repeal the Vagrancy Act (1824)

Nickie is continuing to champion the UK's newborn baby screening programme, and bring it in line with those of our neighbouring countries, to ensure better life chances and outcomes for children.

Nickie has been taking part in the 10for10 Challenge walk. The Challenge is to complete 10,000 steps ten times, as a way to promote healthy living and raise money for charity. Nickie is fundraising for Caxton Youth Organisation, pictured above, Westminster's only Youth Club exclusively for young people with learning difficulties, providing facilities for recreation and informal education.

Silver Sunday is an annual UK wide event to celebrate and thank the contribution of older people to the UK and local communities. To celebrate Silver Sunday 2021, Nickie visited a number of care homes and day centres across the Two Cities, along with the Lord Mayor of Westminster and Cllr Christabel Flight, Silver Sunday Founder. Nickie was delighted to stop at the Norton House Care Home, and enjoyed a great sing along with the brilliant staff and residents.
